Light House Denver – Serly Asnim is widely recognized as a popular culinary content creator on TikTok. She was even nominated for Food Creator of the Year at the TikTok Awards Indonesia 2024. Known for her engaging and creative food reviews, Serly balances her passion for culinary exploration with a commitment to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
In an interview with Lifestyle Liputan6.com, Serly shared how she began her journey as a culinary content creator. She started because of her love for trying various cuisines, both local and international. Over time, her passion turned into a consistent creative pursuit. However, she realized that managing her weight and leading a healthy lifestyle were essential to sustaining her work and personal well-being.
One of her key health tips is maintaining an intense exercise routine. “I walk on a treadmill daily, always on an incline, for at least an hour. That’s my minimum. I also incorporate weightlifting to build muscle mass since aging naturally leads to muscle loss,” she explained during a press conference in Jakarta on December 11, 2024.
At home, Serly is mindful of her diet. She avoids fried foods and desserts, opting for healthier cooking methods like steaming. She said, “Even when I prepare food at home, I still use salt but ensure that I steam everything.” Her approach includes eating four small meals a day to control her calorie intake while maintaining her energy for content creation.

Balancing her restaurant visits with content creation, Serly limits her reviews to a maximum of four restaurants weekly. “Reviewing more than that can overwhelm the editing and scriptwriting process,” she explained. By maintaining this balance, she ensures the quality of her content remains high.
Creating culinary content is a meticulous process for Serly, involving teamwork and careful planning. Before visiting a restaurant, she conceptualizes a “hook” to grab viewers’ attention. “The hook depends on the food or restaurant I’m reviewing. Once I have that, I develop the script. This usually comes together after I taste the food and can describe its texture and flavor,” said Serly, a graduate of the University of London.
The process includes recording voiceovers, which she treats as the foundation of her videos. After this, she moves on to color grading to enhance the visual appeal before finally posting the content. Serly’s restaurant choices are a mix of collaborations and personal preferences. Some restaurants hold sentimental value, while others pique her interest because of their unique offerings or memorable experiences.
Her journey into culinary content creation began in 2022. Inspired by her desire to support local restaurants, she posted her first review of an Indian restaurant she visited with friends. “The response was amazing, and it encouraged me to consistently create content. It’s been a rewarding journey ever since,” she shared.
What sets Serly apart is her unique presentation style. She believes anyone can review food, but the way it’s delivered makes all the difference. Serly ensures her content stands out by incorporating personal touches and creative ideas. “For instance, I’ve made content using fried eggs with unexpected visuals like screens. I also make my voiceovers dynamic and lively, adding rhythm to make them engaging,” she explained.
Her content isn’t just informative; it’s meant to inspire and bring joy to her audience. She aims to create visually appealing and meaningful videos that resonate with viewers. “I hope my content becomes a blessing for everyone who watches,” she added.
Serly’s work has brought positive impacts to the culinary industry, especially to small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). She takes pride in knowing her reviews help restaurants gain popularity. “When people comment that they visited a place because of my video, or when a restaurant tells me they’ve been busier because of my post, it’s incredibly rewarding. That’s what motivates me to keep going,” she said.
When asked about her favorite local restaurant, she mentioned Richard Raja. “It’s incredibly delicious and fragrant,” she said, highlighting her passion for promoting exceptional local cuisine.
For aspiring culinary content creators, Serly advises staying authentic. “Don’t just follow trends; be yourself. It sounds cliché, but it’s true. I used to imitate other creators, but I realized it didn’t work. Finding your own voice and style is key,” she emphasized.
Serly Asnim’s story demonstrates how creativity, discipline, and authenticity can lead to success in the dynamic world of content creation. Through her passion for food and commitment to health, she continues to inspire and positively impact both her audience and the culinary community.
